BT Phone Box Adoption Project

“Transforming a Historic Phone Box into a Lifesaving Resource”
Community Spotlight, with the Community Heartbeat Trust and Portsmouth City Council, has adopted a Grade II listed BT red phone box and installed a community defibrillator, combining heritage preservation with community safety.

Adoption of BT Phone Box in Broad Street

Managed by Community Spotlight CIC, adopted in partnership with Community Heartbeat Trust & Portsmouth City Council, project supported by the St Thomas Ward Councillors

Hot Walls in Old Portsmouth is a lively historic spot on Broad Street, popular with tourists and locals alike. The Grade II listed BT red phone box there had long stood unused, and Community Spotlight saw an opportunity to give it new life. By adopting the phone box, the project preserves a piece of heritage while engaging the community, showing how even small, overlooked spaces can be transformed into valuable local assets.

Funded by Portsmouth City Council CIL Fund
